Subject: [election] Dozens of Nation-wide News Reports Today on E-Voting Security Threat

The three major U.S. voting systems that the Brennan Center task force report discusses are:

1. DRE voting systems (touchscreens without paper),

2. DRE voting systems with VVPT (voter verifiable paper trail), and

3. Precinct-based Optical Scan voting systems

The Brennan Center Press Release has now been reported in dozens of major nationwide and international news articles.  State newspapers in places like Utah have yet to inform their citizens with the exception of Ohio , Massachusettes, and Washington DC .  Even the very conservative Washington Times reported on the security threat to U.S. voting systems.  Here is the list of newspapers which have now reported on this with links to all these articles available here:

As reported in Germany 's "Short News":

The task force also said that a paper trail is ineffective if routine audits through random checks are not performed. Other recommendations included banning wireless technology and checking random machines the same day they are used.

US Count Votes' National Election Data Archive statisticians are thrilled to see that the recommendations that we made first over a year ago for independent vote count audits are now being widely recommended by numerous other organizations.  Here are two papers describing how independent audits can be conducted and why they work:

Now, because the vast majority of US Voting Systems are not audited and are wide open to innocent error and tampering, the National Election Data Archive project needs immediate assistance raising funds to complete its other recommendation to ensure that only properly elected candidates are sworn into office following elections - A National Election Data Archive.  Funds are needed for big legal projects, programming projects, and administration so that we can effectively monitor election results and warn candidates using mathematical detection methods, whenever vote counts contain probable errors before they concede.

Please help us preserve our U.S. democratic elections, the core of our civilization:  http://electionarchive.org
